The Database Architect / Administrator position will be the end to end Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Database Applications supporting our client's Data. Data supposed to be in terabytes at minimal with thousands of concurrent users.
Responsibilities include, but may not be exclusive to:
• Technical review and oversight of network, system, and application changes * Analysis and resolution of escalated troubles / issues from Customer Care, Operations Center, and Network Support personnel
• Provide leadership in development of operations procedures
• Support tools and utilities
• Be responsible to manage special projects as necessary
• The ideal candidate will be someone with a high personal level of excellence and possess the ability to assess situations quickly; understand business requirements; and use technology to assist in the end-to-end process
Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide primary database administration for database management systems across multiple platforms
• Develop procedures for database installation, upgrades, maintenance and disaster recovery
• Provide troubleshooting, analysis, and resolution procedures for the production environment of databases
• Lead installation projects
• Administer, manage, and optimize production databases
• Support data modeling, database design, and engineering
• Provide administrative support for Linux and Oracle Servers
• Create, maintain and optimize database Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Develop, maintain, configure, and monitor database back-up jobs, SQL expertise in support, creation, and tuning of SQL queries across multiple environments
• Create and maintain database scripts
• Provide ad hoc query support
• Provide Product Support for and interface with application development personnel in support of all relevant Oracle technologies
• Define KPIs and KQIs for database performance
Senior Oracle DBA / Architect Qualifications:
• Be able to mentor junior team members
• Strong leadership and team making skills
• Strong Analytical skills
• Experience with database management in the UNIX and Linux environments.
• Understanding of database design / architectures of multi-database environments
• Knowledge of SQL Server will be a plus
• Data modeling, query design and optimization, and stored procedures
• Knowledge related to server and computer hardware including networks and storage devices (SANS)
• Ability to understand large data models quickly
• Design/working experience of Data warehouse for a large sized company is a big plus
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education from very reputed universities.
Oracle Database Specifics
• Proficient with Oracle Database 10g and/or 11g
• Experience in installation, configuration, and support as well as the upgrade of Oracle 8i to 11g
• Knowledge on Oracle Support processes for technical requests
• Experience in configuring / managing environments with fail-over / high availability requirements
• DBA-level experience with Shell scripting, UNIX, and Linux administration (desirable)
• Be able to coordinate with development teams and software vendors on issue resolution and planning
